This spring, I did something different than I had done before. I saw a beautiful plant one day while I was out shopping and I decided that I would buy it and put it on my porch. I wasn't much of a gardener or green thumb in the past, but quarantine created some new time that I didn't have before so I took a chance at it. For over six months, I watered my porch plant thru two seasons. It was something that I looked forward to daily. At the end of the summer, my plant sent me the signal that it's time had had passed as it withered away.
Yesterday, I went on a venture to look for a new plant to nurture for the fall. The plant I decided on was a Mum plant - but there were so many to choose from! They were huge and round and seemed perfectly shaped. But this Mum plant in this picture caught my attention. It wasn't perfectly round like the others, but it was full of pretty yellow flowers. It was a little out of shape, but it had a perfect sign of growth.
1 Corinthians 3:7 says this - "It's not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What's important is that God makes the seed grow."
There are many times our lives where we don't quite feel that we are in the shape we should be. Maybe disappointment or regrets settled in. Maybe one bad decision or feeling far from God played a part. But I love the fact that we can still grow while God is shaping us. The key is that we continue to grow. Even if we are out of shape, the beauty of growth will shine forth - while God continues to do the rest. What areas are out of shape in your life? Plant good seeds and water them with the promises of God. Trust God to make the seed grow.
